"Alma"
  •  Alma:  Hi, dear, welcome home!
  • Frank:  Hmm. (a grunt)
  •   Alma:  What's the matter? You look really upset.
  •   Frank:  Those irresponsible daredevil motorists, what else!
  • Alma:  Look at you, bursting with rage. Why don't you just let them be?
  •   Frank: What do you know? If my driving skills were not               that good, you would have lost a husband.
  •   Alma: Oh God, it's that serious? Were you in a collision              with another car?
  •   Frank:  Hey, watch your words. He was the one who collided with me, not the other way around.
  •   Alma: Darling, are you sure you're okay? Did you hurt                        yourself? Is our red sports car okay?
  • Frank:  Are you kidding? Your husband's skills are top rate. Of course, everything's fine. If I wasn't afraid of denting our baby, I would have  had it out with him and showed who's the real race car driver.
  • Alma:  Thank God for that. As long as nobody's hurt, everything else should be easy to resolve. Did somebody grab the lane, or make an illegal left, or zigzag their way through the traffic?
3
"Frank"
  •  Frank:  All of the above. The worst part of it is that there was this black car, which not only beat the yellow light, it zigzagged right and left. Traffic was a misscreated by those cars trying to avoid it.
  •   Alma:  No wonder it took you this long to get home. Was traffic really that bad?
  •   Frank:  It was really that bad. Because of that car, traffic was a mess. Motorcycles and buses were bumping into each other; traffic on the whole street was at a standstill for an hour.
  • Alma:  That's horrible. Don't worry, that jerk will get his just rewards. I should draw 20 cartoon strips reprimanding him.
  • Frank:  Spare me from black-hearted women.
  • Alma:  I only want to make you laugh and forget tonight's unpleasantness.
  • Frank:  Thanks. I've said my piece; I've let out my anger  and I'm starving. What's for dinner?
  • Alma:  There're steak, steamed corn with butter, and ice cream.
  • Frank:   That sounds wonderful.
  • Alma:  You go ahead and eat first, dear.  I want to see if there are any dents on our precious car..
  • Frank:   Please. Are you worried about me or about the car?

  • Alma:  I am not unhappy because of this; I'm only concerned whether there are any problems at work.
  • Frank:  Don't worry yourself too much. I'm just putting in these extra efforts for the appraisal in July.
  • Alma:  What's there to worry about? Aren't you always one of the apple of your boss' eyes?
  • Frank:  It's different this year. We got a new general manager last month. Nobody knows how he's going to appraise us or how he is going to decide on the wage increase.
  • Alma:  Oh? Doesn't the company have any standard appraisal system?
  • Frank:  There are a few items for appraisal, but a large part of the decision rests on the manager, so a lot of my colleagues are feeling very uneasy nowadays.
  • Alma:  Is he the type that likes people to curry favor with him?
  • Frank:  I heard something like that. Besides, a lot of rumors about the wage increase are flying all over the place.  It's really very difficult to decide which ones to believe.

  • Alma:  Well, let's look at the three factors.
  • Frank: Which three factors?
  • Alma: The perfect annual report, conservative work attitude, and sweet talk!
  • Frank: I've already accomplished the first two; the third, I just can't bring myself to do.
  • Alma: That's the simplest. Why shouldn't it he? Would you like me to show you how it's done?
  • Frank: But what if he dislikes flattery the most, I'll be done for !
  • Alma:  But didn't you say that somebody said that's what he likes?
  • Frank:  But there are some people Who say that that's one of his traps.
  • Alma:  Well, it's going to be a bit difficult. However, this is not an impossible task for your smart wife.
  • Frank:  What strange ideas do you have this time?
  • Alma:  Dear, you forget that I am very interested in psychology.
  • Frank: So?

  • Janice: Why don't you tell me about it? Maybe I can make you feel better.
  • Frank:  You don't have any working experience. How can you understand how I feel?
  • Janice:  That's where you're wrong. There are many times when a third party is more objective than the party concerned because he is not involved. Getting the problem off your chest may make you more comfortable.
  • Frank:  It's really nothing, just that a competitor got my customer.
  • Janice:  Is that the customer you've been working on these past Jew months?

  • Frank: Thank you for your words of comfort!
  • Janice: Those are not only words of comfort. What I said is reality.
  • Frank: How so?
17
"Janice"
  • Janice: The only thing that your client said was that today's contract signing was off; he didn't say that he wasn't going to work with you anytime in the future. Besides even if you lose this business, there are other opportunities for working together.
  • Frank: What would yon do if it were you?
  • Janice: Dad, did the other party tell you the reason for not continuing with the deal?
  • Frank:  He only said that the plan was postponed temporarily, nothing more. I heard from a friend that they were planning to work with another company.
  • Janice:  That's only hearsay. The contracts have not been signed yet. That means there is a chance.
  • Frank:  That's also true.
  • Janice:  The dust hasn't settled yet, which means, anybody can be a winner.
  • Frank:  That's right. I'1l fight to the last minute.
  • Janice:  Also, to know yourself and the enemy is half the battle won.
  • Frank:  Relax, I will go and get a clear picture of my enemy's intentions.
  • Janice.. That's the right attitude. Just give the customer a good impression and there will be other opportunities, even if you don't work together this time.

  • Frank:  He said that I would be very satisfied with the pay.
  • Charles: Yeah, right! Of course he will never say that the responsibilities are also going to double.
  • Frank: Well, this is a direct proportion. Nobody goes into business to lose money.
  • Alma:  Honey, if the new job is too exhausting, why don't you just let it be? I would rather you spend a firth bit more time with me.
22
"Janice.: I think if..."
  • Janice.: I think if Dad can be allowed to exploit his talents in this new job, it would be good for him to try it. Who knows, it might be a turning point in his career!
  • Frank:  That's how I see it, too.
  • Charles:  Dad, will you change to a new job just for the sake of higher pay ?
  • Frank:  Not really. It all boils down to what I need and want most at the moment.
  • Charles:  Like what?
  • Frank:  Like we don't really lack money at the moment and I am realty familiar with my work. But everything is so monotonous; work lacks a certain surge ahead.
  • Charles: So what you are looking for in this new job is its future prospects and growth potential'?.
  •  Frank:  You may say that.
  •  Janice: That's called a need for self-realization.

"Frank"
  • Frank:  Dear, I have a concept you'd surely love
  • Alma:  Oh? Let's hear about it,
  • Frank:  Let's coauthor an illustrated he, ok on customer styles.
  • Alma:  That sounds interesting. What brought on this idea?
  • Frank:  I've been in sales for many years and I'd like to have           some sort of a remembrance of these years. Aside from this, I feel that to be able to work on a book together with you is very romantic.
  • Alma:  Yes, it is very romantic. How should we design this hook?
  • Frank:  We should first discuss the different types of customers and then think of ways to express his unique characteristics,
  • Alma:  My turn first. I think customers may be stingy, eccentric, professional, outgoing.
  • Frank: That's true. Also, there are customers who are hot-tempered, mild-mannered, slow-witted, and irresponsible.
  • Alma:  The customer I fear the most is the one who doesn't keep his word. Frank:  That goes for me, too. Besides, the type who keep changing their and    don't know what they want gives me a bad headache.
  • Alma:  Let me think... The type I like most are the ones who are professional, responsible, and rational.
  • Frank: But that kind of customer are a dying breed.
  • Alma:  You're right about that. Most customers are usually picky and stingy.
  • Frank:  Most customers usually hope to spend the least amount of money to get you to do the most work.
  •  Alma: That's human nature.
27
"Frank"
  •  Frank: Although I have encountered a lot of good customers, becoming good friends.
  •  Alma:  That goes for me, too. I've become really good friends with the editors of some of the publishing house I work with.
  •  Frank:  If you belong to the same industry and get along well, it's usually possible to empathize and boost each other's morale. You may also be able to work together professionally.
  • Alma: How many customers have become your friends, dear?
  • Frank: Oh, may be seven or eight. I have known these clients for more than five years already.
  • Alma:  I probably have around six.
  • Frank: Why don't we put together profiles of the customers we love and hate most? We can make them the lead characters in our book.
  • Alma: That's a great idea. But it will have one man and one woman for the sake of equality. I want to portray the female lead character as the good customer.
  • Frank: But the female customers I've met so far are mostly the irritating type.
  • Alma: Then you have sexual discrimination.
  • Frank: And I think you are too feministic.
  • Alma: I'm the one illustrating the hook, so I get to decide.
  • Frank: All right, all right. I just have to live with the fact that I can't draw.

  • Janice:  Not bad. It's in this year's trendiest color.
  • Alma: Even I would want to buy it.
  • Frank: Charles, what do you think?
  • Charles: I like its form, but I don't like its color.
  • Frank:  It's no wonder; this was designed specially for the female market.
  • Alma: Darling, I think it would be easy to sell if it were to be put in a mail order catalogue.
  • Charles: I think displaying the product in the department store will emphasize its special features.
  • Frank:  Why is that?
33
"Charles"
  • Charles: This way a person will be able to actually operate and show its dual functions, allowing the customers to see its special features.
  • Janice: I think so, too. Besides, you can also do a joint promotion with a coffee company, giving away free cups of coffee. That will surely attract a lot of people.
  • Frank: Hmm... We can consider that idea as well.
  • Frank: Of course, you can. Get ready to drink some great tasting coffee.
  • Alma:  It looks easy enough to operate.
  • Janice:  But I think it's too noisy.
  • Charles: I think it's just fine.
  • Frank:  It's a little bit noisy. I think I should have a talk with the design department. Are there any other defects? Feel free to point them out.
  • Alma:  I think the material used on this product feels a bit rough.
  • Frank: Okay, let me list them down. Charles, what about you? Any comments?
  • Charles: Let me get a taste of that freshly brewed coffee. Uh  not bad!
  • Frank: The defects that you pointed out are very small problems, which we shall be able to fix in a short time.
  • Janice:  Dad, when the product goes into the market, will we have a unit here?
  • Frank:  Naturally, if you like it.
  • Alma: Why don't we set aside a weekend and let me invite my friends to a tea party at home and help you promote the new product.
  • Frank: That's a great idea. There's going to be a lot of fun; I should prepare a performance for that day.

  • Frank: Addison, have some more fruit.
  • Addison: Thanks. Hey, this is great; I really like apples.
  • Frank:  Well, have a bit more. I remember Susan at the Planning Department also likes apples.
  • Addison: Yes. Unfortunately, her temper is not as sweet as the apples she likes.
  • Frank:  What's the matter? You sound as if you don't like her that much.
  • Addison: So-so, I guess. I don't dislike her; it's just that she's a little moody.
  • Frank: That's also true. but she’s very responsible.
  • Addison.-I agree with you. Compared to Tina, she's a lot better.
  • Frank:  I really can't stomach Tina's princess-like airs. She doesn't do anything the whole day, but carries gossip to the boss.
  • Addison: Well, she is the boss' sister-in-law!
  • Frank:  I feel that there are too many people in the companywho are all talk and no action. No wonder the administrative system is a mess!
  • Addison: You can't do anything about it. The boss likes listening to good news, so a lot of people kiss ass.
  • Frank: Well, it is certainly exhausting for us honest people there.
  • Addison: I'd rather be an honest person than be spineless and unprincipled like them.
  • Frank:  That's also true.
  • Addison: Frank, What do you think of the new general manager?
  • Frank:  He has extensive experience, although the guy's really deep; sometimes, it scares me.
  • Addison: I heard he's very clear about his likes and dislikes and he's not the type to just let things go, so don't cross him.
  • Frank: I know, that's why I'm always respectful and I keep my distance. It's safer that way.
39
"Addison"
  • Addison: Me too, I don't know why, but every time I see the guy, I break into a cold sweat.
  • Frank: It's in the eyes. They're the type that seems to look into your soul, makes one really uneasy.
  • Addison: I often feel that he is in the office, watching our every move.
  • Frank:  Luckily 1 get to go out of the office and meet with clients or else, I would be as uncomfortable as you.
  • Addison: I think being his secretary is tough.
  • Frank:  It's hard to say. I heard he's real nice to women. Helen, his secretary, is also an acknowledged beauty in our office.
  • Addison: But I just saw him lost his temper with Helen yesterday.
  • Frank: Really? That's big news; I haven't seen him actually scream at anybody.
  •  Addison: Well, you're better off not seeing it. Yesterday, nobody dared to utter a sound, even the volume of conversation on the telephone was kept to a minimum.
  • Frank: Well, the customers who called yesterday must have felt that our service attitude was outstanding.
  • Addison: You really are optimistic,, aren't you?
  • Frank:  Is there any other way? Being afraid is not going to solve the problem!
  • Addison: That's also true. Except you're going to leave, you really don't have any choice but to be patient.
  • Frank: Just grin and bear with it, after all, the company has very good benefits.
  • Addison: Let's not talk about it! Why don't we play some bridge?
  • Frank: Good idea! Let me call my wife to join us.

  • Alma's Illustration Exhibition
  • These past few weeks, Alma remained closeted in her room, working earnestly on something, refusing to take the calls of publishers or magazines for work. She didn't even bother to cook and when Frank and the children asked her what she was busy at, she would answer, "You'll know in a month." Today, Alma finally emerged from her studio. She prepared a sumptuous dinner and to everybody that she was going to have an illustration exhibition !
44
"Alma"
  • Alma:  My dear family, I am going to have an exhibition.
  • Frank: Really? This is what you have been .so busy preparing for all day and all night?
  • Alma:  That is correct. I am really sorry that you have had to have takeout food these past days.
  • Janice:  Congratulations, Morn. This is a momentous event.
  • Charles: Indeed, it is. But, Mom, why didn't you tell us sooner?  Why the mystery?
  • Alma:  I just wanted to give you guys a surprise.
  • Frank:  It is certainly a surprise. So, is everything all set for the exhibition?
  • Alma:  It's almost ready. We've already rented the venue; all  that's left are some media promotion and set decoration work.
  • Frank: What is the exhibition date?
  • Alma:  The exhibition will run for a week, starting on the 15th of next month.
  • Frank: I'm really happy for you, honey. At last, you'll be fulfilling a wish you've had for many years.
  • Janice: What's the theme of your exhibition this time, Morn?
  • Alma:  The theme of my exhibition is "Unlimited Possibilities. "
  • Charles: Can you explain what that means, our great illustrator?
  • Alma:  Actually, the exhibit is a comparison and contrast between my shown and unshown works.
  • Charles: I still don't get it.
45
"Alma"
  • Alma: Let me put it this way. Every time before I complete an illustration, I would sketch several drafts featuring different ways of expressing the subject. Then I would choose the one that is most appropriate. This time, I would be exhibiting those drafts that didn't quite make it, showing them as "complete works," to be exhibited together with those that I have shown before.
  • Janice: That would really be interesting. You can see different creative expressions under the same theme.
  • Alma:  That's true. In the past, I had always felt that some of my drafts were more interesting and more creative than the ones I had exhibited. Now at least, I won't have any regrets.
  • Frank:  My dear wife, I'll make sure that your exhibit is a big hit.
  • Alma:  I just know you'd surely support me.
  • Frank:  Naturally, I'll always be there for you.
  • Alma:  I am the luckiest woman in the world.
  • Janice:  Morn, I'll be your volunteer. I'll help you distribute flyers, do errands, and be the reception committee.

  • Frank: Maybe a week.
  • Alma:  That's a long time.
  • Frank:  The company wants to expand its US operations, so I'm going to meet some companies to discuss the possibility of working together.
  • Alma:  These clients are based in New York?
  • Frank:  Some are located in New York; others are based in San Francisco.
  • Alma:  I wonder what the weather is like over there. You think I should pack some thick clothing?
  • Frank:  I listened to the news; the weather should be fine. I just have to pack two vests and two suits and I'll be okay.
  • Alma:  I'm going to pack a sweater, just in case.
  • Frank: That sounds good, too.
  • Alma:  Frank, you've been to a lot of countries, which place do you like best?
  • Frank: Naturally, I like New York best. But if you're talking about business trips, I prefer going to France.
50
"Alma"
  • Alma:  Is it because there are beautiful blonds there?
  • Frank: Don't get ideas in your head. I like France because of its beautiful scenery.
  • Alma:  So... when you go on business trips, you don't only discuss business, but also go on excursions.
  • Frank: Darling, I only go out for walks after dinner.
  • Alma:  Really?
  • Frank: Naturally!
  • Alma:  Do you like going on business trips?
  • Frank: Once a month is not bad; it's like a change of scenery. However, if it becomes too frequent, I think it's too exhausting.

  • Difficult Decision
  • Recently, the two newly hired employees belonging to Frank's department are not doing so well. If it is not being late or leaving work early, then it was the customers complaining about their bad service attitude. Frank has tried to communicate with them, but was unable to improve the situation. He now plans to talk to Alma on how to resolve the situation.
57
"Frank"
  • Frank:  Alma, do you have a minute?
  • Alma:  What's up ?
  • Frank:  I want to discuss a situation at work with you.
  • Alma:  Oh, what a surprise, there are actually things that our head of the family cannot solve.
  • Frank: Of course, even the smartest person needs other people's ideas at times.                                        Alma:  Okay, let's hear it.
  • Frank:  Let me ask you a question first, will you hire somebody who's talented or somebody who's obedient?
  • Alma:  I will hire somebody who is talented with a sense of responsibility.
  • Frank: What if you can't have both?
  • Alma:  Then I will hire the worker with a sense of responsibility. Why, what's troubling you?
  • Frank: The two newcomers in my department are very talented, but they're disorganized and resistant to orders; they're really causing me a lot of headaches.
58
"Alma"
  • Alma:  Have you talked with them yet?
  • Frank: Many times, to no avail.
  • Alma:  They're very young, aren't they?
  • Frank:  Twenty seven, twenty eight...
  • Alma:  Young people this age tend to be a bit more ,egotistic.
  • Frank: If they were totally irresponsible, I would not hesitate to let them go. However, their performances in some areas are very good.
  • Alma:  Have you asked them why they are often late and early to leave work?
  • Frank:  Of course. They said that all that matters is that their performance is good.  They don't need that many boring regulations.
  • Alma:  Sounds reasonable to me.
  • Frank:  No, it does not. Aside from creating new customers, we need to service the existing ones as well. This is the only way we can guarantee long lasting business.
59
"Alma"
  • Alma:  Is there a connection with being late and leaving early?
  • Frank: Of course there is. If the customers can't find you, there will he a lot of complaints, which in turn will lead to the company's image being damaged.
  • Alma:   Do they think that you are always preaching to them?
  • Frank: Right!
  • Alma:  Maybe you ought to let them have a taste of what really happens when they do these things. This may be more effective than one hundred sermons from you.
  • Frank: What do you have in mind?
  • Alma:  You can let them join in the whole operating procedure of the company; Let them attend interdepartmental meetings. This way they may understand the responsibility and problems arising in these connections.
  • Frank: And...
  • Alma:  You can design a comparative survey between customer satisfaction and continuation of contract, to let them know the correlation between these elements.
  • Frank: This sounds like a good idea; only it will need a little time.
  • Alma:  All changes and innovation require time and patience.
  • Frank:  You've got a point. But, what if they still don't change?
  • Alma:  If that's the case, it only proves that they're too immature and lack a sense of responsibility.  You're better off without them!
  • Frank:  My dear wife, I feel so much better after talking with you.
  • Alma:  Naturally, I am the queen of ideas!

  • Alma:  What's the matter, honey, the food doesn't taste good? Why do you have such a we rd look on your face?

  • Frank:  It's nothing. It's just that two of my employees quit and I'm busy interviewing their replacements.
  • Alma:  Interviewing new employees makes you lose your appetite?
  • Frank:  It's because it's so hard to find good people nowadays .
  • Alma:  That's strange; I've been hearing that most people can't find work!
  • Janice:  Right! The papers are saying that the economy doesn't look good and more and more people are out of a job. I read that a couple of hundred highly educated people show up for any one job opening.
  • Charles: (sighs) I hope the economic outlook is little better by the time I graduate.
  • Janice:  You're only concerned about yourself. Right now dad is not too happy about things.
66
"Charles"
  • Charles: Oh, sorry, Dad. Do you need our opinion?
  • Frank: That would be good. I can also tell you what to look out for when you go into a job interview.
  • Alma:  Honey, don't tell me you're going off into one of your lectures.
  • Frank:  I am only sharing some of my experiences. A lot of interesting things happen during the interviews.
  • Janice:  Really7 I want to hear them.
  • Frank:  Thank God for daughters. They're so much warmer.
  • Janice:  Dad, isn't it that there are people who get so nervous during an interview that they are unable to speak?
  • Frank:  Yes. Some people get so nervous that they stammer; some even walk into the glass doors.
  • Janice: That's hilarious! How old are they?
  • Frank:  Well, it varies. Some are fresh university graduates, some are housewives going back to work and middle age men who have been working for a couple of years.
  • Charles: I'm sure that there are some pretty arrogant people around.
  • Frank:  Naturally. Some people submit pretty flashy resumes; but then once they are asked questions on their supposed field of expertise, they get caught up in their own lies because they don't have the correct answers.
67
"Charles"
  • Charles: Did they demand high pay?
  • Frank:  So-so. However, there was one who asked for a salary that's almost as high as mine. It's really so unrealistic.
  • Alma:  Honey, what are the qualities do your ideal person need to have?
  • Frank:  A good salesperson should have three important qualities: quick reaction, high efficiency, and enthusiastic service attitude.
  • Charles: Aside from these qualities, are you not concerned with educational background, outward appearance or age?
  • Frank:  To me, these are secondary. What attracts me are people who are diligent, responsible, team-oriented, passionate about work, professional,  and having good communication skills.
  • Alma:  All these things are making my head spin. If we were to add the secondary qualities to the primary qualities, the person should be "Mr. Perfect". No wonder you're having such a hard time looking for people.
  • Frank: What you mean is that my expectations are too high?
  • Alma:  That's right!
  • Frank: All right, I'll think this over.
  • Janice:  Dad, maybe there are some potential superstars in those resumes that you threw away.
  • Frank: Then I would just have to be clairvoyant.

"Part 12"
  • Part 12
  • A Lesson in Communication
  • Today was really the pits at work for Frank. Not only did he get into fight with a new colleague, he also lost business because of a communication breakup with a customer. When he arrived home, he got a call from his colleague; after a few exchanges, he got into another fight with the person on the line. After putting down the phone, a very angry Frank asked his wife, if he was, as his colleague said, a stubborn person most people will have difficulty communicating with.

"Alma"
  • Alma: Frank, who were you fighting with?
  • Frank: Dear, am I really very stubborn?
  • Alma: Uh, sometimes.
  • Frank: Am I a difficult person to communicate with?
  • Alma: Why are you suddenly asking me this question?
  • Frank: I am really very depressed!
  • Alma: I really can't communicate with you if you don't clarify your statements.
  • Frank: But I'm really annoyed, I don't want to talk about it.
  • Alma:  Why don't you write it down? Or would you like me to sketch it?
  • Frank:  I don't want to write it down and I don't want to draw.
  • Alma:  Then we'll just wait until you feel like talking
  • Frank:  (groans) Even my wife won't give me the time of day.
  • (Alma gave Frank an I-don't know-what-to-do-with-you look and went into the kitchen to make a pot of tea. )

"Alma"
  • Alma:  My dear husband, drink a cup of rose tea. Now tell me what is the matter.
  • Frank: Thanks! You're really a great wife. I got into a fight with my customer today.
  • Alma:  Why?
  • Frank: He kept calling for a quotation, while picking at things right and left. It was really so annoying!
  • Alma:  Maybe he was hoping that you would give him more discount !
  •  Frank: I know, but he is buying in small quantities and he is not an old customer. I really can't give him a satisfactory discount.
  •  Alma:  Did you tell him these reasons?
  •  Frank:  I did. But he said to give him a bigger discount first; then he would buy more the next time. I don't believe him, so I told him, "I'11 give you a bigger discount next time. This time,  the price stays the same.
  • Alma:  You offended him.
  • Frank:  Yes. He wrote a letter complaining to the general manager, which really upset me.
73
"Alma"
  • Alma:  You didn't say anything to offend the general manager?
  • Frank:  Well, no. He showed me the letter and then told me, "The customer is always right. " He patted my shoulders and walked away.
  • Alma:  I think you should call that customer tomorrow and apologize.
  • Frank: Why? I didn't do anything wrong.
  • Alma:  If you don't fell like talking to him, I can help you send him a card.
  • Frank:  I stuck to my principles. What's wrong with that?
  • Alma:  I didn't say you were wrong, only that the communication method could be a little moderate.
  • Frank:  Maybe I've been too busy these past few days, so I kind of lose patience communicating with people.
  • Alma:  You're right. This is a big boo-boo in communication. Just a moment ago you refused to clarify your statements. If I did not make tea to tone down the atmosphere, I would have gotten into a fight with you.
  • Frank:  If you meet up with such an unreasonable customer, how would you communicate with him?
  • Alma:  Sometimes words are a waste; laughter is better. If you don't feel like talking, find an excuse to walk a way. Let your feelings stabilize a little bit and then talk to him.
  • Frank:  You mean just don't get into a direct confrontation, right?
  • Alma:  Right!
  • Frank: OK, I will call the customer and apologize to him to morrow.
